Europe’s biggest airport project offers excellent investment opportunities
Work has been under way on constructing the new Capital Airport Berlin Brandenburg International (BBI) for the past three years. Over 3,000 construction workers are currently working to ensure that the airport opens its doors on time in late October 2011. Investors are being offered not one, but two attractive investment opportunities in the form of the BBI Airport City and BBI Business Park Berlin. Berlin Airports is presenting both projects at the commercial property trade show Expo Real (5–7 October 2009) in Munich.

Manfred Körtgen, BBI/Technical Director at Berlin Airports: “We are delighted with the building progress made so far. The airport is already clearly taking shape. In spring 2010, we will be able to celebrate the topping-out ceremony for our main building, the terminal. The new airport will be an asset to the entire region. Premium investment space in the vicinity of the airport in the BBI Airport City and the BBI Business Park Berlin offers investors optimum development and ROI potential.”

BBI Airport City

The first tender processes for building the BBI Airport City are already running: Berlin Airports is currently conducting a Europe-wide tender process for building a luxury conference and congress hotel, an office and service complex as well as a cargo centre. Contracts are expected to be awarded in early 2010 on the basis of the granting of hereditary building rights with a building obligation. Subsequently, multi-storey car parks and car hire centres will be contracted on the basis of lease financing.

The BBI Airport City is situated directly in front of the BBI Terminal. A modern, urban service complex is being built on an area totalling 16 hectares. Berlin Airports is offering investors variable lots along a central plaza to erect five to six-storey buildings. Up to 148,000 square metres of gross floor area can be built here.

BBI Business Park Berlin

Development work for the BBI Business Park Berlin began in April 2009. Large parts of the future access road to the Business Park have already been completed. The BBI Business Park Berlin is Berlin’s biggest continuous industrial and commercial park, right on the new Capital Airport BBI. This generously landscaped 109-hectare area offers customised, consolidated plots for all kinds of companies. Developers, investors and interested companies have a wide range of sites at their disposal.

Berlin Airports can be found at the Expo Real 2009 in the Airport Region at the joint stand of Berlin-Brandenburg B2.420.
