Traffic growth at the Berlin airports is once again accelerating

This represents a four per cent increase on the same month last year. A total of 19.4 million passengers were handled in the first three quarters of 2009, representing a 2.4 per cent drop for the period.

Passenger figures were up 7.8 per cent at Schoenefeld Airport, reaching 521,138 in November.

1,174,156 passengers were recorded at Tegel in the same period, representing a 2.4 per cent increase.

Schoenefeld and Tegel together recorded 19,334 flight movements, 1.3 per cent more than in the same month last year. A total of 214,740 flight movements were recorded between January and September, representing a 14.1 per cent drop.

So far, no change of trend is in sight for freight flown. Air freight at the Berlin airports dropped 5.7 per cent to 1,900 tons in November. A total of 18,390 tons have been transported since January; up 11.7 per cent on the previous year.
