Skytrax honours Schoenefeld Airport with the “World Airport Award 2010” in the Low-Cost category
Ten million passengers surveyed worldwide returned a clear verdict: Schoenefeld Airport is the world’s number one airport for low-cost travellers. On Tuesday evening the independent London-based air travel survey institute Skytrax awarded Berlin Airports the "World Airport Award 2010”. For the first time the Skytrax award was presented in the category “Low Cost”.

“Our daily challenge is to make travelling as pleasant as possible for our passengers. Schoenefeld Airport is the best possible proof that low ticket prices in the low cost segment do not automatically have to mean lower quality and service”, said Prof. Dr. Rainer Schwarz, CEO of Berlin Airports. “I am exceedingly grateful to all our staff who contributed so decisively to this success.”

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are awarded every year to international airports and airlines, and are based on the stringent assessment of passengers. The airports are rated in a total of 39 categories, including handling and service quality, the courtesy and competence of airport staff and the quality of retail and recreation facilities.
