From 4–6 October, Berlin Airports will be exhibiting at the Expo Real 2011, the 14th international trade show for commercial real estate and investments, in Munich. The main focus of the company’s marketing activities will be on two attractive development projects: Airport City and Business Park Berlin. Both developments offer potential investors optimum investment and development opportunities at the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt.

“2011 was a very successful year for Berlin Airports. We are not only on the home straight in terms of building the new airport, we are also making rapid progress in building third-party investment properties. Just in September 2010 we were given the go-ahead to build Airport City. Now we can see a small city emerging around the airport. Before the year is out, the fire stations, operational buildings and multi-storey car parks will be completed in Airport City. All other buildings will be completed before the airport goes into operation”, said Dr. Manfred A. Körtgen, COO of Berlin Airports. “Visions are now becoming reality. The investment location BER is emerging. These pilot projects mark the first milestones in the region’s economic development, which has begun prior to the opening of the new airport and will intensify when the airport goes into operation.”

Berlin Airports can be found at the Expo Real 2011 in the ‘Airport Region’ at the joint stand of Berlin-Brandenburg in Hall B2, Booth 420.

Building progress around the airport

Project developer ECE is working with Steigenberger Hotels AG to develop a 4-star superior hotel directly in front of the terminal. Fay Projects GmbH is developing the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport Center – a sustainable office and service complex – right next door. Deutsche Anlagen-Leasing is building four multi-storey car parks, a car rental centre and four buildings for ground handling services and security service companies. Dietz AG is building an air cargo centre for belly freight to the north-east of Airport City. And Harder & Partner and Lufthansa Technik are developing two maintenance hangars to the west of the new airport.

Construction work starts in Business Park Berlin

Approx. 41 hectares of Business Park Berlin have already been sold to investors. The first structural building work is currently under way. A hotel and commercial buildings will be developed in time for the opening of the new airport. Construction work is scheduled to begin on other buildings in 2012. Work has already started on the second development stage.
