Second updated information for passengers

15.02.13 12:41

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH advises passengers at Schoenefeld Airport that further delays are expected following an incident involving the landing of a business aircraft earlier this morning.

Correction: The aircraft was a Embraer 500 Phenom 100 (not: Embraer 50) corporate jet.

The aircraft, which had started in Kortrijk, Belgium, hit the shoulder of the runway after touching down and is now blocking the runway. There were three persons on board the aircraft (two crew members and a passenger). The three persons were able to exit the aircraft uninjured. The incident occurred this morning at 9.10am.

The German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) has commenced its investigation into the cause of the incident. Due to the ongoing investigation on site at the runway all departures and arrivals at Schoenefeld Airport have been cancelled until 2pm.

The airport operator apologises for any inconvenience caused. Passengers can get the latest information about the status of their flight by calling the Airport Information Hotline on 01805-000186 (0.14 €/min for calls from German landline, mobile calls max. 0.42 €/min) or online at www.berlin-airport.de.

Further information and updates will be provided as soon as possible.
