New control centre: The SPRINT Project Management Office commences operations
01.05.13 12:00Today, the BER action plan SPRINT entered its next phase. The Project Management Office (PMO) commenced its work in a campus located within the BER Airport terminal. From now on, all processes required to ensure the speedy opening of the future airport will be overseen from the BER terminal. The Board of Management and executives of the airport operating company, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, will be collaborating closely with external experts and a large number of operations managers to work in concert to ensure the speedy, secure opening of BER.
Following the instructions of the airport operating company’s Board of Management, over the coming months SPRINT will be summarizing the details of the current status of construction work and assigning these to work packages as well as supervising the implementation on site. Simultaneously, the overall operational opening of the future airport will be planned and supervised in close cooperation with the approving authorities and the expert associations (e.g., TÜV). Integrated work processes in an open-plan campus will facilitate swift decision-making, hierarchy-free work, efficient supervision, swift response times and complete transparency for all remaining tasks.
Hartmut Mehdorn, Chief Executive Officer of FBB: “I am convinced that the team spirit and the expertise of the team that we have gathered together in the SPRINT action plan, boosted by the full support of the Board of Management of our company, will get us the results we want.”
