Traffic Report for June 2013 - First-half performance: Almost 12.4 million passengers handled at Schönefeld and Tegel

January to June 2013

The first six months of 2013 saw more passengers being handled at Schönefeld and Tegel Airports than ever before. From January to June, a total of 12,397,017 passengers arrived at or departed from the two airports in the region around the capital. This translates into 525,045 more passen-gers than during the same period last year (+4.4 per cent). Schönefeld recorded 3,178,514 passengers during the first six months of the year (-7.1%) while Tegel handled 9,218,503 passengers (+9.1%).

Between January and June, the number of flight movements decreased by 1.3 per cent (compared with the same period of the previous year) to 116,053 take-offs and landings; capacity utilisation rose by 2.4 percentage points to 74.5 per cent and the volume of air cargo increased by 3.8 per cent to 15,845 tonnes.

Hartmut Mehdorn, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, summa-rises the situation: "Almost 12.4 million passengers were handled at Schönefeld and Tegel Airports during the first six months of the year. More than 4.4% growth year-on-year shows quite clearly that the aviation market in the Berlin region remains a stable growth market."

Traffic Report for June

In June, Schönefeld and Tegel Airports handled a total of 2,473,152 pas-sengers – a 7.1 per cent increase over the same month of the previous year. 1,872,709 passengers were recorded in Tegel in June, 12.2 per cent more than in June 2012, while Schönefeld recorded 600,443 passengers during the same period, a 6.1 per cent decline over the same month last year.

The total number of flight movements accounted for 22,125 take-offs and landings in June, a 1% decline over the same month of the previous year. In June, air cargo increased by 18.7 per cent to 3,246 tonnes.
