Airport Night Run 2017: Run on the runway

31.03.17 16:55

On Saturday 8th April 2017, the 11th Airport Night Run (powered by Securitas) takes place. For one evening, the future airport of Berlin Brandenburg will once again be turned into a running track. The start-finish area is located right under the terminal rook. The course leads past the terminal and the piers, under airbridges, over the illuminated south runway and airfield. The lighting of the terminal and runway provides a very special atmosphere.

Participants are free to choose from five different disciplines; a half-marathon, a 10 km run, a 10 km power walk, a 4x4 km team relay and, new this year, a 15 km skating course. It is also possible to compete as a skater and runner. Registrations can be submitted at short notice online until 5th April 2017, at Karstadt Sports where registration documents are available until 7th April and at the airport until one hour before the start.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “The Airport Night Run has become a permanent fixture of Berlin’s running calendar. Some 5,300 participants have already registered. Last minute entrants can also register themselves at the airport. I wish all those taking part good luck on one of Berlin’s most unusual running tracks.”

On your marks...

Manfred Bobke-von Camen, CHRO, and Heike Fölster, CFO, are overseeing the Airport Night Run on behalf of the airport company. The starting gun will sound at 5.00 p.m. for skaters. The majority of this route leads over 15 km of challenging and diverse terrain along the edge of the airport. The half-marathon, covering a distance of 21.0975 km, begins at 7.00 p.m. The 10 km run, the 10km power walk and the 4x4 km team relay start at 7.30 p.m. Participants can join the official warm-up 25 minutes before the start of their respective race. Aside from the best runners or skaters in all disciplines, companies with the best times or most participants or fastest relay teams will also be rewarded.

How to find us and services at the airport

The event grounds are located at Berlin Brandenburg Airport at Willy-Brandt-Platz in Airport City. Free parking is available on-site in limited quantity. It is recommended to start your journey to the airport early, to form ride sharing groups or use public transport. A free shuttle bus is available between 3.00 p.m. and midnight, which travels from the Berlin-Schönefeld Airport S-Bahn station and the event grounds.

Toilets, changing rooms and showers, as well as clothing lockers, are provided for runners in the start area. Visitors and friends can cheer on participants in the start-finish area. However, it is not permitted to accompany runners over the course.

This year, the Airport Night Run takes place under the moniker of the Securitas Airport Night Run and is organised by Golazo Sports GmbH (formerly Berlin Läuft). Around 6,500 runners are expected. Online registration is possible until Wednesday 5th April and costs EUR 40 for the half-marathon, EUR 25 for the 10 km run, EUR 60 for the team relay and EUR 35 for the 15 km skating race. Afterwards, registrations will only be accepted where registration documents are available and, on race day, at registration counter up to one hour before the start subject to payment via EC card or cash.
The use of Real-Time ChampionChips is mandatory for all competitors during the race. Participants who do not own a Real-Time ChampionChip for electronic time measurement, can hire one for EUR 6.
Additional information about the run and registration is available online under www.airport-run.com as well as by telephone 030 2431 9977.
