To the Big Apple with Delta Air Lines: Airline expands their services from Berlin

04.05.18 11:15

Once again this summer, Delta Air Lines will fly direct from Berlin Tegel to New York in the USA daily. Due to high demand the long-haul flight will be offered earlier and significantly longer this year – from 5th May 2018 until the flight plan change at the end of October 2018.

“Due to the success of 2017, where we celebrated the reestablishment of the route, we are extending our Berlin – New York JFK connection in this summer season,” says Dwight James, Senior Vice President – Trans-Atlantic at Delta Air Lines. “New York is one of the most popular Destinations for German travellers and linking the city with two of Germany’s departing airports will make the journey all the more comfortable for our customers.”

“The Berlin - New York connection is one of the most important long-haul connections for the capital’s surrounding area. Delta’s expansion of this service is a win-win for all parties,” says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. “The ability to fly direct to New York from European capitals such as London, Paris or Rome goes without saying. In Berlin that is not yet a reality. We are therefore even more pleased to welcome this cooperation from Delta. I am convinced, that the route’s economic success will continue to grow and reward this decision.”

Flight Schedule

The flight times are ideal for passengers that want to make the most of their New York visit. The American airline’s flights take off at 12:55 in Berlin Tegel with touchdown in New York at 16:01 local time. Following one last full day in the city on the Atlantic, it is time to head back to Berlin at 20:30 from JFK Airport. Arrival in Tegel is at 11:00 local time. The flight time is between eight and a half and nine hours depending on the direction. A Boeing 767-300 with 208 seats, including 26 in business class, is employed for the service.
