easyJet expands at the Berlin location and launches a recruitment campaign for more than 200 new flight attendants

Not only passengers, but also the region, benefit from the growing involvement of the airline in the capital: more than 500 new easyJet employees have already been hired at the base in Berlin Tegel. In the coming weeks, another 90 positions will be filled. Due to the current expansion in Berlin, easyJet is looking for more than 200 new employees for the easyJet cabin crews at Tegel and Schönefeld by Autumn 2018. Interested applicants are invited to recruitment days on 4th and 5th September 2018 in Berlin. As part of its recruitment activities, easyJet has already welcomed more than 380 former airberlin employees (180 pilots and 200 crew members) to the team. Another 20 (six pilots and 14 crew members) will be joining in the coming weeks. However, recruitment and training activities are not yet over and easyJet expects to hire more than 400 former airberlin employees by September 2018.

Thomas Haagensen, Group Markets Director at easyJet, says: "We are delighted to add a multitude of new destinations to our route network with the 13 new connections to and from Berlin Tegel, offering even more choice to the almost 16 million passengers who fly to and from Berlin with easyJet each year.

As Europe's leading airline, we are pleased to be able to offer more attractive destinations in our network from Berlin Tegel with the new summer routes, thereby achieving long-term and sustainable growth in Berlin. We are very satisfied with the development of our Berlin summer schedule and the expansion of our business is proceeding according to plan. The fact that we have already welcomed 500 new easyJet employees to Berlin Tegel as part of our expansion shows just how much we have on offer."

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, added: "easyJet is expanding its range in Tegel to further destinations. This is good news for passengers to and from Berlin. The airline is further expanding its involvement in the capital region and is making a major contribution to increasing passenger numbers at Berlin's airports. Having had slightly fewer passengers in Berlin in the first half of 2018, we now see that the gap left by airberlin's bankruptcy is finally over."
