Dietz Airport Hotels Grundbesitz GmbH is building a 3-star InterCityHotel directly in front of Terminal 1 of the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The six-storey hotel will cover around 14,000 square metres of gross floor area and consist of 357 rooms, a large spa area, 450 square metres of conference space, as well as a restaurant with bistro lounge. The complete construction and commissioning of the hotel is scheduled for spring 2022. The general contractor for the project is Dreßler Bau GmbH from Aschaffenburg.

Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “Once the new hotel opens in spring 2022, it will encourage more liveliness on Willy-Brandt-Platz. This creates a good first impression of the urbanity we would like to create for the other landside development projects. The hotel is therefore also a crucial milestone in developing the BER real estate location. We are delighted to have such a strong partner as Dietz on board with this important construction project and aim for every success.”

Dr. Wolfgang Dietz, Chairman at Dietz AG: “We are pleased to be able to make another contribution to the positive development of the capital city’s airport with our second project at BER and are convinced that this airport will prove to be an important building block in Berlin’s prosperity. With our long-term collaborator IC Hotels, we were able to gain a prestigious and powerful partner as the hotel’s future operator.”

Joachim Marusczyk, Managing Director of IntercityHotel GmbH: “We’re really looking forward to greeting our future guests to the new InterCityHotel, only a few steps away from Terminal 1. The unique features of our hotels are the interior design of the Italian architect and designer Matteo Thun, as well as the FreeCityTicket, which allows our guests free travel aboard the city’s public transport. What’s more, travellers can manage their stays completely contactless with the InterCityHotel app.”

The building complements the hotel offer on BER with the 3-star category. At the same time, it continues to develop the area directly in front of BER Terminal 1. A Steigenberger hotel in the 4-star superior category, as well as an office and service centre with the ²BAC, has already been implemented here. At the same time as the opening of the new airport in October, the go-ahead for real estate marketing was given. The next step is to start marketing the first construction sites in the Midfield Garden district to the east. A mixed-use, urban premium quarter is being created on around 24 hectares in a prime location and within walking distance of the passenger terminal. The quarter offers space for a variety of uses. The focus of development is on office, hotel and congress use as well as airport-related services.
